Four Books Down, Eight to Go - a reading challenge update

Okay, readers we are near the end of month three. My goal for the year was 12 books, and I have read four. I’m right on track.

two of the books were required reading for my MFA in writing program, but no one has ever said that required reading needed to be boring.

The books I have read for class are essays written by writers, discussing the genre of flas fiction and flash nonfiction. I’ve mentioned in a different posting what qualifies flash - the length is generally agreed upon by the writing community to be between 500 and 1,000 words. Ive found it a great and fun genre, both for reading and writing. The two collections of essays examining these topics are:

The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Writing Flash Nonfiction

Edited by Dinty W. Moore

The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Writing Flash Fiction

Edited by Tara L. Masih

I also have done a little reading for pleasure….but that will be in the next update.

Happy Reading
